After School Program Tutors
Our after school tutoring program runs daily Monday thru Thursday 3pm to 5pm. Staff are scheduled to work 2pm to 5:30pm so that they can assist with daily set up and lesson prep for students, then tear down and clean up, while waiting for parents to pick up students, before signing out at 5:30pm. The Tutoring begins with half hour of sitting with a child or two and working on homework, or tutoring exercises. Then a 3:30 student lunch is accompanying with a group activity of typically 15-20 minutes. Then tutoring resumes and once all tutoring sheets are complete, the student can choose a book and a half hour of reading takes place while the tutor listens. At 4:30pm a guest speaker will come in twice a week and present on postitive image, and character building topics. At 5pm the tutoring session ends and parents begin to pick children up. Applications will be taken on Wednesdays at Noon. Applicants must be available for an orientation and interview until 2pm the same day.
