Tulare County Office of Education - Expanding Your Horizons Volunteers Needed

This student event is for 4th- through 10th-grade young women. Its focus is to enlighten and spark an interest in careers for women in the STEM fields: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. This conference will help young women discover how interesting and fun math and science can be, form personal contacts with women working in traditionally male occupations, and help them meet other young women interested in math and science.

The conference begins with a group welcome and the rest of the day is spent attending workshops presented by women whose careers involve mathematics, science, engineering or technology. These hands-on seminars provide an opportunity for young women to experiment in specific areas of interest, such as engineering or chemistry. Each participant will attend four workshops

Volunteers are needed to help with registration and to guide students to their proper workshops. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
