The Human Race is a collaborative community fundraiser that supports 501c3 organizations by raising funds to support their mission and raises awareness around volunteerism and service in the community. The Human Race is a proven fundraiser across the United States and continues to grow in popularity each year. In some communities the Human Race has raised over $1 million dollars. Funds can be raised for any 501c3 nonprofit organization, school, or church.
32 Organizations, over 500 runners, 200 volunteers all contributed to raise over $15,000 last year for the non-profit sector. This year we are looking to surpass those amounts by leaps in bounds! It all starts with your organization getting involved and getting involved early so your fundraising effort can have the biggest impact on the people you serve.
How it works
Organizations appoint a Race Coordinator who is in charge of promoting the Human Race in an outreach campaign to attract runners to particiapte on behalf of your organization. The runners in turn reach out to their network of friends, co-workers, family members, etc., and collect donations on behalf of the organization with a promise to run in the Human Race. It is that simple! Around 93% of the money collected goes straight to the organization that it was collected on behalf of with around 6.5% going for administrative costs in collecting and distributing bi-weekly checks to the organizations through Active.com.
HandsOn Central California provides marketing and experienced event and volunteer management assistance to coordinate and stage the event. Nonprofits and supporting businesses provide the people power and the passion to Be the Change and support the impact community benefit organizations make in our community.
How to Become a Partner
The only requirement to participate in the Human Race is your organization needs to become a HandsOn Partner. HandsOn's Partner membership fee is only *$50. This fee entitles the organization to take part in the 2013 Human Race, free booth space at the event as well as all the benefits of becoming a HandsOn Central Cal Partner for the year. (*this small partnership fee in required annually to remain a HandsOn Central California partner) Partner will be asked to fill out the Human Race Registration Form, send in the partnership fee and lastly fill out the W-9 so that HandsOn can distribute your funds following the race.
