The Idea Behind the Human Race
Raise money for your favorite 501(c)3 Nonprofit!
The Human Race 2-mile Fun Run and Walk and 5K Run is a collaborative community fundraiser that supports 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations (government agencies, community based, faith-based and schools). It is designed to raise awareness about volunteerism and service to the community. It brings together the best of Fresno's healthy activities for both young and old; including art, music, food, and service and celebration of Fresno's human spirit. Businesses may also support organizations by recruiting runners and walkers and raising funds for the favorite organization!
How does it work?

Register to run/walk in the race (there is also an option to fundraise only)

Select an organization to support and fundraise for

Set up a free fundraise page on the registration site

Spread the word about your fundraise page through emails, social media, personal asks and tell them to donate to the organization you are supporting

Finally, on race day - run or walk in the race! That simple.
As a registered participant you have the opportunity to choose to support one of the participating organizations. Your goal is to raise as much as you can to support your chosen organization. There is no minimum fundraising goals so do your best! Around 93.5% of what you raise goes directly to the organization you have chosen to support!(around 6.5% goes towards administrative fees charged by active.com who collects and distributes the funds)
Race Registration Details, Route and Location
The 2013 Human Race will start at Eaton Plaza, then on through the heart of downtown; with the first leg through Courthouse Park passing the Peace Officer's Memorial, on to Fresno's Mariposa Mall, then down the Fulton Mall. Runners will then follow the streets of downtown along the Cultural Arts District and local art studios, as well as some of Fresno's most dedicated nonprofit organizations. The race's final stretch will run past the Historic Water Tower and City Hall, then ending up where you started at Eaton Plaza.
