Opportunity Details

2-1-1 Disaster Response Resource Reporter

Role:

The Disaster Response Resource Reporter will directly increase the capacity and community outreach of 2-1-1 Fresno County.  2-1-1 Fresno County is an Information and Referral line that connects people to health, legal and human services in the county.  Our program is looking to expand its reach to the community and expand our volunteer capacity in the following months.  Furthermore, as we prepare to assist the disaster relief efforts of the county, Resource Reporters will be of great value.  As 2-1-1 seeks to become a leader in disaster response for our county, we will need skilled individuals to track highly affected areas after a disaster.  These individuals will also track the scarcity of services.  Such information can be used by county officials as they request aid from state and federal jurisdictions.

Responsibilities include:

A Resource Reporter will work with data collected by 2-1-1 call specialists to track disaster trends and will be asked to:

  • Work with other Resource Reporters to identify affected areas
    • By the collection of zip codes
  • Work with other Resource Reporter to identify scarcity of services.
  • Report findings to Incident Commander and Liaison Officer
  • Work to create informative pivot tables, charts and graphs.
  • Be creative in the presentation of information

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with spreadsheets
  • Experience with statistics
  • Advanced communication skills.  Verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
    • Meeting close deadlines.
  • Desire to create new effective ways of data presentation
    • County mapping
  • Must be at least 18 yrs of age or older.

Time Commitment:

The commitment of the Resource Reporters is a peculiar one.  Emergency Response Resource Reporters are asked to commit to 6-7 hrs of training.  After trained, a Reporter will remain in contact with the 2-1-1 Fresno County Volunteer Coordinator by completing minimal monthly communications and special assignments.  However, the major commitment a Resource Reporter makes is to respond to a crisis situation by reporting to volunteer at 2-1-1 Fresno.  2-1-1 Fresno employees will be trained to create reasonable schedules for volunteers.  Hours may vary depending on the scope of the disaster.
