Generation Green Project Sites:
Below is a list of available projects for Generation Green. Please note
that volunteers will be able to sign up for the project of their choice
on April 24th at the Generation Green kick-off held at
Woodward Park. Projects are on a first come first serve basis and travel
will be required from the kick-off location to the project site.
Project: The
Wagner Property
Location:
Near Millerton Dam. Driving north on Friant Road turn left on
Road 206 at north end of the town of Friant.
Cross San Joaquin River and immediately turn right into first
gate. You will see green
“River Tree” signs with a white arrow pointing the way.

This project will help restore the land to a more
natural setting and help facilitate the opening of this land to the
public. Volunteers will
remove old animal pens and
fences, and general farm junk from the San Joaquin River Conservancy
property know as “the Wagner Property” on the Madera side of the San
Joaquin River next to Friant Dam.
Help demolish and break down abandoned animal pens.
Tear down deteriorating fencing and fence posts and assist with
debris removal.

Project:
West Fresno Community Garden
Location:

The Boys & Girls Club
Volunteers will be working on
the Boys & Girls Club Community Garden that was developed as an
educational tool for the youth at the club. Volunteers will be weeding,
planting, digging begs, making worm bins and making compost bins.

Project: Pamela Kincaid Neighborhood Center Community Garden

Pamela Kincaid Neighborhood Center is a resource center which seeks to
improve the community by offering solutions to homelessness,
distributing resources, offering services like showers and providing a
community spaces for educational and collaborative use.
Volunteers will be working in the community garden doing assorted
tasks such as weeding, digging trenches, digging worm bins, digging out
a pond, planting seeds, making beds, building solar showers and moving
mulch.

Tower District Community Garden

The Tower Community Garden is a place for community members to come and
enjoy the day and the beauty of the space. Anyone may eat the food from
the garden, so they consciously try to plant trees and other plants that
will produce a lot of food. Volunteers
will be digging beds, preparing beds for planting, weeding and making
worm bins and moving mulch.

Fancher Creek Trail
Location:
The project site is located in the Sunnyside area of Fresno. Tree
Fresno’s 2010 Generation Green activity is on the beautiful Fancher
Creek Trail between Kings Canyon Road, and Butler Avenue in Fresno.

Our Tree Fresno Mission Statement is:
“Raise the quality of life in the Fresno region by promoting
environmental stewardship through community involvement in the planting
and maintenance of trees and the creation of trails and green belts.
Volunteer work would include general clean-up of the
trail: picking up and bagging trash/debris, piling up broken tree
branches, pruning back over-grown shrubs from edge of the trail, heading
back drooping tree branches of the walkway, weed-eating vegetation at
driveways, etc. This
section of the trail is approximately one-half mile long and is located
on the east side of the creek adjacent to trees-residential homes.

Project: Jensen River Ranch
Location:
The project site will be within walking distance of the Kick-off
location. The meeting point will be at the kiosk next to the L.S. Eaton
Trail at the Friant/Fort Washington entrance parking lot. Look for the
San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust banner.

Jensen River Ranch is a restoration site on 167 acres of state land in the San Joaquin River Parkway that is open to the public. Volunteers will help to preserve and restore this ecological, scenic and historically significant property for us all to enjoy. Volunteers will help staff at the San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust prepare the restoration plantings at Jensen River Ranch for the summer by: repairing and clearing irrigation lines, weeding and collecting trash. As well as removing old ranch fencing from the site to recycle. Please wear long pants, closed-toe shoes and sunscreen. If you have a pair of bolt cutters and would be willing to bring them for the day it would be a great help in taking apart the old fencing. The various projects will occur throughout the site so please be prepared to enjoy a short hike. 60 Volunteers Needed

Victoria West
Location:

Volunteers will assist in the removal of sand in the playground area and
replace it with Fibar, a synthetic bark. Volunteers will also assist
with the removal of graffiti, help with shrub work, tree planting,
mulching, weeding, and general cleaning of the park and the ball park.

Volunteers will be working on the Mountain Bike Trail where they will
assist in general cleaning including weeding, pruning, planting and
mulching.

team. Volunteers will need to be 18 and over to participate in this
project.
