AmeriCorps Volunteer Infrastructure Program

Through the AmeriCorps VIP program, the HandsOn Central California is providing 25 full time AmeriCorps Members to local non-profits ("Host Sites") that serve children, youth, and families struggling economically. The AmeriCorps members will help develop volunteer program infrastructure within these Host Sites.
The primary goals of the program are:
1. Generate a minimum of 50 volunteers per AmeriCorps member that in turn provide services to an additional 100 children, youth and families.
2. Provide 10 hours/week of capacity building services to non-profits enabling them to serve an additional 100 clients.
The program will began in July 1, 2009 and extends for one year to June 30, 2010. The program will provide participating organizations the opportunity to enroll an AmeriCorps Member who will commit to a year of service with your agency in return for a modest stipend and an educational scholarship.
Member Duties : AmeriCorps Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP) provides the opportunity for AmeriCorps members to work with community organizations to build their capacity to support children, youth and families struggling economically. AmeriCorps members are under the general supervision and report to the Site Supervisor at their Placement Sites. AmeriCorps members will increase the number of volunteers providing needed services to children, youth and families struggling economically in the community. Additionally, AmeriCorps members will build capacity within the volunteer program of the organization to provide high quality support to volunteers in order to provide them the skills and resources they need to be successful and sustain their volunteer activities.
